"one’s destination is never a place, but a new way of seeing things."
day twenty-two this is a picture i did not take | of a shooting star falling across the big black sky and disappearing just above the ocean as we drove along the winding roads north of los angeles tonight. as we held hands in silence, as we played a trivia game (dave won, of course), as we talked about the past twenty-two days together across the darkness over that long drive south, that shooting star made us stop + gasp + for that moment, feel infinite.
this is mary + joel | they live in portland but have an airstream trailer parked just outside of santa cruz, california where they like to spend some of their time enjoying the sun + the views whenever they can. i love the idea of having a place to retreat to together. we feel lucky that we got to drive up the mountain to spend part of the afternoon chatting + hanging out in their little oasis today, truly lucky.
day nineteen | west coast, you’re just a little bit beautiful. taken on our way down the oregon coast, heading south. we pulled over and enjoyed the sunset with each other + some screaming children (not ours)… it was happy screaming though, and i secretly wanted to join in :)
this is ben + liz | we think the world of these two + their love, passion and energy for life and others inspires us a lot. we’re so thankful for our time with them in portland, living out of their living room for a couple of days, swapping stories, asking good and challenging questions of each other and laughing a whole lot :)
day fifteen/day sixteen | yesterday i stood under the blue sky in red rocks park in colorado. today, the rains of portland wash my boots of the dust. yesterday + today couldn’t be more opposite.
there are gaps here, i realize! much has happened between day seven and day sixteen that i can’t wait to tell you about, and i will do my best to fill those gaps. there are many stories to share. but first, we have a date with a bookstore named powell’s.
don’t worry you guys, we’ve got all the angles covered.
this is us on day fourteen! | shot by our new friends, the lovely willinghams (drew + angela) in downtown denver. we are always wearing the same clothes when we meet up with photographers it seems, haha.. i promise we did bring more than one outfit on this trip (but barely).
this is angela + drew | we emailed one night and met the next day for lunch. and now we have rad new friends in denver, it’s as easy as that! they are both photographers and have recently made the move from california to a brand new city to make a mark in the photography world, and i know that they already are and will continue to do so :)
day thirteen | rocky mountain national park, colorado
day thirteen | i expected the rocky mountains to be a little rockier than this” “i was thinking the same thing. that john denver’s full of shit, man”
haha remember this scene from the movie dumb + dumber? we were laughing about it today with chris + sarah as we drove through the actual rockies. i’d like to report that they were completely awe inspiring and very very rocky :)
this is chris + sarah | they took us to rocky mountain park in colorado one afternoon and we ended up in one of chris’ favourite spots with the mountains behind us. we feel so lucky that we were introduced to this couple a few months ago — they dream big + it’s exciting to watch as those dreams become actions…. i can’t wait to see all they do together!
day twelve | meet aspen, vail + steamboat :)
